How It Works

Understand How Filing A Tax Grievance Works

Gather Your Documents

Before filing a residential tax grievance, you will need to gather all of the necessary documents related to your property. These may include recent appraisals, tax assessment forms, and proof of ownership.

Complete The Application

Once you have gathered all of the required documents, the next step is to complete and submit your application for a residential tax grievance. This can typically be done online or in person depending on your location. Be sure to read all instructions carefully before submitting your application.

Wait For A Decision

After submitting your application, you will receive an acknowledgement letter from the local board that is considering your request for a residential tax grievance. It may take several months for them to make a decision, but it is important to be patient during this time. You should wait until they have made their decision before taking any further action.

We take a standardized process and force your home to be considered on its own. We use every tool at our disposal to counter misapplied tax assessments that are arrived at using incorrect or outdated information. Remember this as well, there is no penalty for trying.

No. Nope. Not at all. This is a no risk scenario. No Reduction means NO FEE. Oh, and to put your mind at ease, you cannot be upwardly assessed in case your house is being “under-assessed”, the assessor cannot charge you any additional taxes because you filed a property tax grievance.

Keep in mind that to get a tax grievance you need to have a recent appraisal of your property.  Should you happen to have a certified appraisal that was done recently we are more than happy to use it.  If a recent appraisal is not available, we will conduct a market analysis for you. In the event your tax grievance is declined, if it is warranted, we may file an appeal. We will do this only after we do an additional in-depth review and believe we can still win a reduction for you.  We want you to know that not all cases are appealed. However, when we do appeal your case, New York State will charge a filing fee of $30.
